Frequently asked questions
Buying a Suppressor
Do I need a tax stamp to buy a suppressor?
As of January 1, 2026, the $200 federal transfer tax on suppressors has been eliminated under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. You no longer pay a tax fee, but the ATF registration and approval process remains in full effect. You still need to complete the required ATF forms, pass a background check, submit fingerprints and a photograph, and receive ATF approval before taking possession of your suppressor.
Can a suppressor be shipped directly to my home?
No. Federal law requires that NFA-regulated items, including suppressors, be transferred through a properly licensed Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) with Special Occupational Tax (SOT) status. Your suppressor will ship to your chosen FFL dealer, where you will complete the transfer process and take possession once ATF approval is received.
How long does ATF approval take?
Approval times vary and are determined entirely by the ATF. As of early 2026, a surge in Form 4 submissions following the elimination of the tax stamp has increased wait times. We recommend contacting your FFL dealer for the most current estimates. FPM Gunworks has no influence over ATF processing times.
What states allow suppressor ownership?
Suppressors are currently legal in 42 states. State laws vary — some states prohibit ownership entirely, and others restrict use for hunting or other activities. It is your responsibility to verify that suppressor ownership is legal in your state and jurisdiction before purchasing. FPM Gunworks cannot provide legal advice on state-specific compliance.
Am I eligible to purchase a suppressor?
To purchase a suppressor, you must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident, at least 21 years of age for purchases from a dealer (18 for individual-to-individual transfers in states that allow it), not prohibited from possessing firearms under federal or state law, and a resident of a state where suppressors are legal.
Our Suppressors
What calibers do FPM Gunworks suppressors cover?
Our suppressor lineup covers a wide range of calibers, from .22 rimfire up to .375 caliber. Specific models are purpose-built for their intended caliber range — always verify that a suppressor is rated for your caliber before purchasing. Our current lineup includes suppressors for .22 LR, 5.7×28, .223/5.56, 9mm, .30 caliber, .36 caliber, .45-70, and .375 CheyTac.
Are your suppressors full-auto rated?
It depends on the model and material. Our stainless steel configurations are generally full-auto rated. Titanium versions are designed for standard range use and may carry bolt-gun or semi-auto only ratings. Each product page lists the specific caliber ratings and platform restrictions for that model — always check before purchasing.
What is the difference between your stainless steel and titanium suppressors?
Stainless steel builds are designed for hard use, high round counts, and full-auto platforms. They are heavier but more durable under sustained fire. Titanium builds are significantly lighter, making them ideal for hunting and precision rifle setups where weight balance matters. They are better suited for standard range use rather than high-volume or full-auto fire.
Do your suppressors require a minimum barrel length?
From our testing, we have not seen a minimum barrel length restriction on most of our designs. For shorter barrels, we recommend pairing your suppressor with one of our muzzle brakes — such as the Spleen Splitter — to help extend blast baffle life and protect the suppressor under higher-pressure conditions.
What thread patterns do your suppressors use?
Thread patterns vary by model. Most of our suppressors use the industry-standard Alpha thread pattern or common direct-thread mounts such as 1/2×28 or 5/8×24. Specific thread information is listed on each product page. Contact us if you have questions about compatibility with your host firearm.
Can I use one suppressor across multiple calibers?
Some of our suppressors are designed to cover multiple calibers within a rated range — for example, a .30 caliber suppressor rated for both 7.62 and 6.5mm. However, you should never use a suppressor on a caliber larger than its rated maximum. Always refer to the product specifications before mounting a suppressor on a different platform than it was designed for.

Warranty & Returns
What does the FPM Gunworks warranty cover?
FPM Gunworks products are warrantied to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for the duration of the original purchaser’s ownership under normal use and proper maintenance. At our sole discretion, defective products will be repaired or replaced at no charge for parts or labor.
What is not covered by the warranty?
The warranty does not cover damage resulting from improper installation or assembly, unauthorized modification or repair, misuse or abuse, use outside of manufacturer specifications, incompatible components or ammunition, or accidents and environmental damage. See our full warranty policy for complete details.
How do I file a warranty claim?
Contact us with your proof of purchase, a description of the issue, and photographs of the defect. Do not ship any product back without first obtaining a return authorization from us. For NFA-regulated items, contact us before shipping — additional ATF transfer requirements apply.
Can I return a suppressor?
NFA-regulated items that have been transferred are generally non-returnable due to federal regulatory requirements. Please contact us before purchasing if you have questions about a specific product. Non-NFA items may be returned in original, unused condition. Contact us to initiate a return.
